I can put whatever the heck I darn well want to in darned near any directory I want to. Furthermore, my OS itself doesn't really make the same distinctions between directories that backblaze does. To whit, I challenge you to find very much about my (operating) system (or yours) that isn't composed of files. Nowhere is there any distinction made between "file backup" and "system backup". "Backblaze will automatically back up all your files including documents, photos, music, movies, and more" That said.From the main personal backup page on the backblaze site: I'd rather pay for a service that actually did what I wanted it to do without a lot of fuss. But if I wanted to be bothered with hacks and diy then I could probably get by with just watchman and git or something like that. I'm just annoyed that I can't actually use it to backup all of the files that are actually important and user specific without some sort of kludge. To be clear, I'm NOT asking for backblaze to backup my OS. Either add a means of explicitly including directories that are otherwise excluded by default.or give my money back and I'll stick with Arq for a backup frontend. Should the developers of those apps put them there? Nope, but they did. And I know there are applications in my apps directory that contain user specific config files and license keys. I also know that the exclusions aren't limited to what is mentioned in that list. I know darned well there is stuff in these disallowed directories that I 100% want backed up. Across all user profiles on the computer, as soon as installed, with the exception of your operating system, applications, program files, or temporary files." I'm a computer scientist. OK, so now that I'm in it I do find this from the help page, "What does Backblaze Backup? All Your Data. Uhhh, sure, you actually want me to duplicate symlink all of the files that I want backed up that are natively in places that backblaze refuses to backup? Baloney. This isn't disclosed anywhere at all on the front pages that describe the product. Just purchased backblaze 2 year license only to immediately discover that there are a whole host of directories that backblaze won't backup.
